Synteras is a privately held, majority owned subsidiary of Qivliq, LLC. Qivliq is owned by the NANA Development Corporation, incorporated as an Alaska Native Corporation in 1972.
The NANA region encompasses 38,000 square miles, about the size of Indiana. Most of it is north of the Artic Circle, and its area coincides with the area of the Northwest Artic Borough. Under federal law, NANA and its subsidiaries, joint ventures, and partnerships are deemed to be “minority and economically disadvantaged business enterprises.”
All Synteras profits are returned to our 11,000 Inupiaq shareholders in Northwest Alaska. These profits support a variety of programs that benefit all NANA shareholders. Examples of such programs include:
Social and Cultural Programs
Scholarships
Language Preservation
Professional Development and Career Opportunities
Village Partnerships
Dividend Returns
