IV&V — Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS)
Mission: The FPDS tracks all Federal contracting acquisition activities — who bought what, from whom, for how much, when and where. The system is only as good as the data entered and the processes followed by users.
Challenge
Lack of accuracy between FPDS and the contract file makes vendor oversight difficult and opens the door to potential fraud and abuse. Due to the volume of transactions — over $200 billion annually passes through the system — maintaining compliance with Federal directives is a challenge.
Solution
Synteras deploys a team of analysts responsible for auditing selected VA contracts to gauge the accuracy and completeness of the data recorded in FPDS:
- Checking the physical contract file and validating against FPDS
- Identifying trends that reveal training, coaching, or discipline issues for the contracting staff
